Sentence case is normal writing style: only the first letter of each sentence is a capital. This tool lowercases your text, then capitalizes the first letter after every full stop, question mark, exclamation mark and line break, and fixes the word "I". It is the quickest way to repair text typed with Caps Lock on or copied from an all-caps source.

How to use it

  2. The sentence case version appears instantly in the output box.
  3. Check names and acronyms, then click Copy.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is sentence case?
Sentence case capitalizes only the first letter of each sentence, plus proper nouns, just like ordinary writing. For example "THE MEETING IS AT 5 PM. PLEASE BE ON TIME." becomes "The meeting is at 5 pm. Please be on time."
How do I fix text typed with Caps Lock on?
Paste it into the box above. The tool lowercases everything and then capitalizes the start of each sentence, so all-caps text is turned back into normal writing in one step.
Does it capitalize names and places?
No. The tool cannot tell which words are names, so "rahul lives in delhi" stays lowercase apart from the first letter. Capitalize proper nouns and acronyms such as NASA by hand after converting. The pronoun "I" is fixed automatically.
What counts as the end of a sentence?
A full stop, question mark or exclamation mark followed by a space, or a new line. Abbreviations like "Dr." or "etc." may cause the next word to be capitalized, so check those after converting.
What is the difference between sentence case and title case?
Sentence case capitalizes only the first word of a sentence. Title case capitalizes the main words of a heading, like "The Lord of the Rings". Use the Title Case Converter for headings and titles.
