Frequently Asked Questions
What does this Hindi to English typing tool do?
It converts Hindi written in Devanagari script into English (Roman) letters, the way people type Hindi on WhatsApp and social media. For example, "आप कैसे हैं?" becomes "aap kaise hain?". It changes the script, not the language, so the words stay Hindi.
Is this a translation from Hindi to English?
No. This tool writes Hindi words in English letters (transliteration), so "धन्यवाद" becomes "dhanyavaad", not "thank you". To get the English meaning, use the Hindi to English Translation tool.
How do I convert Hindi to Hinglish?
Paste or type Hindi text in the left box. The Hinglish version appears instantly on the right. Click Copy to use it in a chat, email, caption or document.
How are long vowels like आ and ई written?
Long vowels are written doubled in the middle of a word, so आ becomes "aa" and ई becomes "ee", as in "naam" and "theek". At the end of a word they are written short, as most people type them, so "खाना" ends in "a" and "हिंदी" ends in "i".
Why does "कमल" become "kamal" and not "kamala"?
In spoken Hindi the short "a" sound after a consonant is often silent, especially at the end of a word. The tool drops it the same way Hindi speakers do, so you get natural spellings like "kamal", "bharat" and "samajhna". A few compound words may still need a small manual fix.
Does it work for Marathi or Sanskrit text?
Yes, any text in Devanagari script is converted, including Marathi, Sanskrit and Nepali. The spelling follows Hindi pronunciation, so Sanskrit words lose their final "a" sound.
Can I type English letters and get Hindi instead?
Yes. For the opposite direction, use the English to Hindi Typing tool: type "namaste" in English letters and get "नमस्ते" in Hindi script.
Is this tool free and private?
Yes. It is free with no signup and no text limit. The conversion runs entirely in your browser, so your text is never uploaded.
